My cousin, made me her plus 1 when she won an Astro competition to meet and dine with Ian Wright. Needless to say, everyone my age grew up watching him on tv.

Super star!

It was held at Delicious in Ampang

Sit down fixed menu looked promising as it consisted of food from all over his travels. Started off with Syrian Bread.

This is as good as it got. Everything else tasted bad and it was just a mess as nothing complimented each other. All the tastes clashed.

Okinawa terriyaki chicken. The liver was terrible.

Then Ian Wright showed up, Smashing through a silhouette screen naturally.

Rudy from hitz.fm hosted.

Event was primarily to promote his new show out next month- Ian Wright's Out of Bounds. He then shared with us his stories on his travels. Delightfully hilarious and down to earth, he made me feel like he was actually in front of me but still on tv!

He took photos in Cuba.

More food came. nyehhh

Some exotically named soup. But it was just minestrone soup to be honest.

Cousin's main was pulled Cuban beef. Tasted like cheap Mexican chillie.

Mine was Siberian baked chicken.

From then onwards i just didn't bother with photographing the food. It was just bad.

However! They had games and I went up to take on Ian Wright's team in PICTIONARY!

Sunscreen was the word.

It came down to a tie breaker as everyone answered right. Rudy had to draw. Word was snow. I got it. Ian got it second. He tried to CHEAT AND TAKE IT HOME!

REMATCH!

He won.

lollllllllllll!

I still got the prizes though.

After 6 months of problems due to the unavailability of sound post production until the awesome Brendan Lim stepped in. "Basement" is finally done!

The project started off when Fei, Weiyan and I were talking about making a horror movie with toilets. So we did!

Weiyan jumped in as DOP

Fei jumped in as the actor

Then we went old skool and recruited another of my fav actors, Eric:

Roped in the already established local actress extraordinaire: Bonnie,

And off we went! Along the way we got the help of Warren (who's the Best boy, literally!) :

and Lal! (but since i don't have a picture of you there on that day, I'll use Warren again!

and Cheng! But once again, no photo of you, so Warren it is!

This project required some interesting inventions like my Snorry-cam

and some of Weiyan's secret special effects stuff from his kitchen!

Day 1 of the shoot consisted of Fei and Weiyan's parts.

Some fun times with my DOP getting dirty in his own goo.

Day 2 involved the whole cast and crew.

We then finished up the corridor shots and move on 'indoors' into our special toilet. Once inside, we made ourselves at home and unpacked,

and threw on our make up!

Expected of course, were the incoming injuries,

and dancing.

I tried to throw my actors out of their comfort zones, to explore their inner depths

and secret desires.

But at the end of the day, work is nothing without the input of blood, sweat and tears.

But mostly blood.

I have to say to the entire team, thanks a million! Couldn't have done this without you! :)

Initially started as a project to experiment with semi-professional film equipment, this project has taught me to teach myself to use Final Cut Pro. Now I can safely say that I'm ready for more challenging projects in the future.

You know that feeling you had when you were young.

One day you wake up and realize that something's missing. That old feeling of blind optimism, adventure, hope and romance.
You realize that no matter how much you deny the existence of fate, it has materialized in a different form. It has taken over in the manifestation of reality.
It tells you when to eat, when to sleep. It controls everything from the way you view things to the way you feel emotionally.

You now know that life might just be made up of nothing more than the basic elements of eat, breed and die.
You now know that life is dictated by finances. Finances so powerful that it cripples the soul, shackles, ball and chain. So bounded we are that merely the intangible nature of the reality of money decides our next step in life.

Fate is just a name. One of the many.
How do you live knowing that everything has been laid out before you.

How do you console a person who has seen the futility of hope yet hopes for a miracle?
Do you say that everything happens for a reason and that you'll pull through?
Or do you argue that one should take it in their stride "C'est la Vie"?
The line between knowledge and hypocrisy is blurred because in the end, it's all probably merely a cosmic joke.

earlier a person commented on a football game in the European Cup to which another insulted him by commenting that he was one of those Malaysians who supported overseas football rather than our local football and is therefore unpatriotic.

I find it so funny that someone can call another less patriotic for not supporting local football!

First of all, the only reason why we ( I included ) do not support local football is because:
A) We'd rather watch quality football
B) Our football is among the shittiest football in the world
C) Our team selection basis is based on racism rather than skill
D) Who truly gives two fucks about what happened to Kedah and Perlis and some hooligan thing.

Some may argue that we want to be so western that we rather bypass our football teams for western ones. But seriously, our local fans riot too and rioting isn't in our culture. So technically we can also say that we're so into western culture that we riot like the Italians :)

Yesterday thanks to Weiyan, I joined Monash's film making workshop.

It was AMAZING!

.....was SO FUCKING TERRIBLE, IT HAS TO BE THE WORST ADAPTATION EVER.

Now normally I'm never this harsh, being a movie buff.

I've endured the very tragic Dance of the Dragon and I had to say that movie as flawed and dull as it was, had a concept that was at least at one point unique.

BUT TWILIGHT has NOTHING unique about it. The dialogue was lazy, the acting for the first one and a half hours; mortifying. At one point in the movie they teased us with hope of an interesting vampire fight scene; which ended in less than 3 minutes if u count out the silly dialogue.

I hate the terrible dialogue.

I hate edward cullen's disturbing and perfectly tweezed eyebrows.

I found it hilarious that all the vampires looked like they had a permanent hard on at all times.

I found it extremely hilarious and for the first time in my life; GRATEFUL that the Malaysian censorship board cut out DIALOGUE. The cutting also gave us great laughs by providing us with active sexual innuendo.

In short. Lets face it. This is a chick movie. Its "chickier" than any Britney Spears/Lindsey Lohan movie. The ONLY reason girls would say they like it is because they find the main character extremely attractive. Minus that; you have a very very sad and expensive production.

Proof? Ok; just ask any girl what they thought about the movie. First reply would be "EDWARD CULLUM IS SO HOT I WOULD MARRY HIM RIGHT NOW OMGOMGOMGOMG *swoons*"

If you disagree with the paragraph above, you are;

CHENG'S POST

After the celebration of our country's 51st Independence anniversary and reading all the thought provoking opinions of others on the state of our nation now,

I came to a realization that no matter how much i love the country, there are some things that I, as self proclaimed patriotic citizen, will never be able to accept.

For instance, our beloved Rukunegara.

Kepercayaan Kepada Tuhan,

Kesetiaan kepada Raja dan Negara,

Keluhuran Perlembagaan,

Kedaulatan Undang undang,

Kesopanan dan kesusilaan.

The Rukunegara is basically a guide for us Malaysians to create a harmonious and peaceful country.

It was created after the racial clashes on the 16th of May 1969 to keep the peace among a multicultural society.

Of course, following the principals of the Rukunegara are something all Malaysians should do.

But, what if I don’t?

Can I call myself a good Malaysian citizen if I don't follow all the principles of it?

I may love the country and be ready to die for it, but what I don't believe in God?

To be absolutely honest, i don't. Does that make me any less patriotic?

Does it make me a 'bad' Malaysian?

What if, i was born a religious person, but after maturing in thought and contemplating it, i lost faith in the God i was brought up to believe in?

Although I am atheist, or agnostic as some people say, I believe that religion is a guide for those who need some direction in their life.

It may not be the belief of a superpower or someone out there who can control the universe, but a belief of a teaching, of a way of life that should be practiced

to be a good human being and to fulfill a purpose of our existence.

In accordance to human rights, each human being is free to adopt any religion or belief of their choice, may it be theistic, non-theistic or atheistic.

But, although our country is a democratic country, Muslims are still not allowed to change their religion or believe in another God if they were born Muslims. Why? The Rukunegara states that we should believe in God, but what if some Muslims don’t believe in their God anymore? What if they believe in another God? Does it mean if they don’t believe in the “National God of Choice”, they aren’t good citizens of the nation anymore?

It is sad that some Muslims who do not believe in their God anymore get ostracized from their own community of fellow Muslims. But the hypocritical thing is that these Muslims are able to live in harmony with people who were born non-Muslims. Can’t they treat the individual who has decided not to practice Islam anymore as just another non-Muslim? Why must he or she be judged, scrutinized and ‘guided’ back into the religion? Aren’t we all, in its bare essence, Malaysians?

I don't understand why but it is as if I've turned on a television. You see how people react and you know how you're supposed to feel yet, you're still not in the story so you never do know exactly what it's about. What role did I exactly play?

I feel like I've never left square one. I'm still the same person I was. Isn't it universal nature to progress?

I find myself envious. I want to experience what you experienced, feel what you felt, do what you have done. Trade places with me my head screams.

There is a moment, where everything feels like before. Then it quickly dawns upon me that it's not quite so familiar. Things are different. So I stop myself from doing what I thought of doing, what I might have planned on doing because for the simple fact that I know. I know how it might play out, how it might turn out, the repercussions and above all; the meaninglessness.

It's not sadness. Just plain sensibility and fact. Pure predicable outcomes.

Just life.

I'm sure I'll get out of this scene and move on to Act 2.

After all, it is universal nature to progress.

Malaysia cancels 'too sexy' Avril Lavigne concert

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) — Malaysia on Tuesday canceled a concert by Canadian rock singer Avril Lavigne, saying it may taint the Muslim-majority country's independence day celebrations after the Islamic opposition slammed her show as being "too sexy."

The Arts, Culture and Heritage Ministry said it had decided not to permit Lavigne's show because it was unsuitable to Malaysian culture and could not be held on Aug. 29, two days ahead of independence day.

"It is not timely. It's not in the good spirit of our National Day. If we go ahead with the concert, it is contrary to what we are preparing for," said Shukran Ibrahim, a senior official from the culture ministry's department that vets all foreign artists.

The decision came after the youth wing of a fundamentalist opposition party, the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party, called for the show's cancellation.

Kamarulzaman Mohamed, a party youth official, told The Associated Press on Monday that Lavigne's show was "considered too sexy for us" and would promote the wrong values just before independence day.

"We don't want our people, our teenagers, influenced by their performance. We want clean artists, artists that are good role models," he said.

Lavigne, who became famous with her 2002 debut album "Let's Go," had planned to launch her monthlong Asia tour in Kuala Lumpur.

Last year, R&B singer Beyonce moved her show from Malaysia to Indonesia, and Christina Aguilera skipped the country on an Asian tour after a controversy erupted over a dress code for foreign artists.

Malaysia requires all performers to wear clothes without obscene or drug-related images and be covered from the chest to the knees. They must also refrain from jumping, shouting, hugging and kissing on stage.

So far since the last post I have been sick in bed with my sinus problems coupled with a mild flu. Still felt like shit. Nothing mild about the shit feelings.

On the other hand was offered a climbing commercial job in Kuching. Min $800 with the company paying for everything from the flight to the food. However at the last min wasn't chosen. Feeling a little shitty till I came online today and talked to Balqis who informed me about the need for a elementary German language qualification in order to get your visa.

A huge run around that gave me a chance to find out tons of things that I didn't know about my proposed education plans.

So is everything falling into place with the strange turn of events? Or is it some sick joke the cosmos are playing with me.

Now its become clear that if i do chose to go to Germany and if alls well I will not leave till mid of next year.

But still so many questions left unanswered. I wish they would reply me. ARGH! I wish I decided to take Business a long time ago. I wish dpasojdsapdjapsdjasdjsa

Not a good time mentally for me.

Climbing has been awesome.

Partying has been eventful in strange ways.

Education though, has taken the biggest part of my mind these past 2 weeks. Seeing I only took 3 A levels when it would seem that Germany requires 4 A levels. I have found myself in a pickle. Wrote in to uni's and the education board but they seem to be too busy with other world matters to reply.

So the past 5 days have been sitting in front of the computer starring at gmail and waiting for a reply.

THEN!

At 12.56pm today I see 1 new message in the inbox! I'm EXCITED! This could be it! THE ANSWER TO MY QUESTIONS!

Kononnya its the hilariously side splitting contest that I joined as a joke. But then again the prize is a car. I would like a car please. Imagine the parts I can strip from it and use it to fund my European journey. Please do vote for me! I'll love you like how Fei loves Eric :)

Hey guys do you remember this?

It was the best piece of newspaper article I ever saw. Mainly because it was the essence of all our hard work, blood, sweat and tears. We were 16 and to see that article at that age lauding praise on our master piece was just out of this world.

Yes that's Fei performing on stage as well as him collecting his "Best Performer" award!

After doing the "24 Hour Theater Project" last month, my cast-mate Soon Heng told me that we appeared on the Malay Mail.

And now as I took out the old article and thought about the past 3 years, its just simply mind blowing.

School seemed a million years ago.
Now feels like a sadistic twilight zone where we're trapped between ever fading safety nets and the harsh realities becoming more and more tangible.

It said "education" then. Now its "showbiz" How bizarre can it get?

What a difference 3 years make. We don't see each other every weekday, we don't speak to each other as much as we used to, some of us may never go into theater again, some of us will leave within the next few months, and even some of us have begun to drift apart from others.

Yet some things will never change. Like how it felt at that exact moment when they announced our winning play. Or that moment when we saw that newspaper article with all that positive feed back. And how we feel about each other, this would never change.

On another note away from emo-ness!

The goth subculture has survived much longer than others of the same era, and has continued to diversify. Its imagery and cultural proclivities indicate influences from nineteenth century during the early culture.

After a very uneventful and boring 1 and a half years of A Levels at HELP, I found myself constantly complaining about how dull college is. But last week we decided to take control and make our own wacky fun ( 2 weeks before finals ). Somewhere along the lines, GOTH DAY was decided to be held! So after lots of anticipative feelings and constant amounts of threatening by Phillip that we better not ffk him on the day itself; TODAY GOTH DAY HAPPENED!

This is Sara!

She is the Good Witch of the West to our Dorothy, the Gandalf to our Hobbits, the Dumbledore to our Hogwarts nutjobs. ( She brought the tools )

This is Phillip, we called him O'Malley after the Greys character for obvious reasons. He's also my "Natural Face Look" partner in crime and now "Goth Brother".

And so right in the middle of Sri Emas canteen under the UOA office building, we started our journey into Goth-hood.

First came the nail painting, a necessity for all Goths young and old.

And Phillip gets his face here.

I do have to admit walking to class presented an interesting looking scene.

And of course stopping by the toilets before Miss Leong's Econs class to gather courage and finally shoot my first toilet cam whore shot. Yes, sometimes on crazy days we have to do crazy things. ( referring to cam whore shot not dressing up goth )

After Econs we went and seek out the remaining Goth members.
This my friends is [ Ahmad*snickers* ] Azreel. The guy who teaches me Foosball things then regrets teaching me Foosball things, he also has a brilliant metaphor about men and caged birds. He said he was gonna come as "Goth Rocker", somehow I'm not sure how it worked. IT DIDN'T! lol!

We have to fix him up.

As we can see we have Yi Peng being GothMama. Very cute you LSE scholar.

This is Kah Joo, my secret Padawan, since hanging out with me he has become 10 times more sarcastic and 50 times more capable of insulting anyone. I am proud of you my child.

He opted for the "Dr Evil Finger Goth" look.

This is Zak aka Malaichan. He called me up and told me he wanted to go Goth. He even brought his own nail polish and mascara.

However after finding out that you can't remove nail polish with water, he pussied out and did the "Sole Middle Finger Goth" look. So disappointing. He scratched it off after college anyway.

Now was time for Mr Noel's math class. When I walked into class he said my hair was too "good boy" and decided that he wasn't going to teach until he had some fun with Phillip's hairspray.

Justin Ng took advantage and joined in the fun.

Yes, you don't have to say anything.

But of course, even Goths have to pay attention to Core Math 4 Vectors and study.

Ah one final shot and off to the bus stop we went, getting a very respectable amount of stares from "normal" people.

All and all I have to say that it was a very pleasant experience losing my Goth-Virginity. One I shall always remember on this blog. However I read an article that the Internet will crash in 2010. So, who knows. lol!

MCR was good!

It rained and they distributed free plastic raincoats ( of the lowest quality, furthermore I must point out that it had to be the most eco-unfriendly move of all time, a few hundred free plastic bags that are just left lying around to be sent to land fills? Friends......plastic takes a couple hundred years to bio-degrade, BUT ANYWAY ).

In their attempts to shelter themselves from the rain, they unintentionally made themselves look like a sea of human condoms. Of course Jinn and I didn't fall into that trap, no matter how tempting it was to involve ourselves in live art.

Music was good, but as I deleted their Black Parade album 6 months ago, I didn't know 80% of the songs played, but the ones I did really kicked ass.

Realized that if you don't climb consistently for 3 weeks, you downgrade from 7a to 6b+..........and that's bloody fucking depressing. Also you will not be able to do more than 10 chin ups. Nor will you last more than 3/4 hard climbs in a bouldering session.

Thank the bloody gods that I didn't lose any finger strength.

Therefore, training has begun. Now to stop them bloody chocolate chip cookies.

Fuck I should be training more for the bloody exams next month.

Recently;

1) I still have no idea if I'm a better lead climber or boulderer. Seems I can't really progress dramatically without focusing on one and putting less training in the other. After starting to boulder more due to the missing lead climbing buddies and building up really good bouldering strength, it seems i have lost tons of endurance strength in return. Like today, even though I didn't warm up properly, I still screwed up a 6b+ route. Urgh! So to specialize with the rope or without! damn!

2) I think Natalie Portman's movies are so awesome.

3) I really need to buck up if I want to act well for next year's production. Somehow I have no idea how to improve. I desperately need to watch myself act to correct things.

4) Mocks are good. Your bad marks only translates into better revision material.

5) Shit la, I want to get my old team back together and do a play.

6) I want to make a movie thats about a mime.

7) Its incredibly hard to find any girls who climb my age. Almost non-existent. The ones who do have left the country.

Therefore I think that I need a holiday out of here. Bloody college.

Today I played squash for the first time in my life with Marsh.

Took me 40 mins to figure out how hit the backhand.

We played 9 sets over 3 and a half hours.

I got my ass kicked in both rubber games.

Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi used his anniversary speech to urge people to unify as a nation and warn against worsening race relations.

Malaysia's ethnic minorities have suffered discrimination in the form of a controversial quota benefiting Malays in business, education and civil service.

Political parties have become polarised along ethnic and religious lines and there are concerns that an increasingly conservative form of Islam is becoming more assertive, with Sharia courts overriding the country's secular constitution.
